DESCRIPTION:
Position Summary:
As a software engineer in the Internationalization Engineering team at our
company you will be responsible for maintaining software packages and other
products. You will be expected to deal with bug reports and able to create
fixes and patches for such issues in a wide variety of Open Source software
packages. You will communicate, coordinate and work with Quality
Engineering and other teams to assist with improving the support in our
products. With experience you will be able to make contributions to Open
Source software projects and help to development new software.
Requirements
* Degree in Computer Science or equivalent preferred
* 2+ years work experience in software development
* Must have a good working knowledge of C programming
* Required to have several years experience working and developing with
Linux
* Expected to have a good understanding of Japanese and other character-sets
and encoding-systems
* Experience with Linux packaging and bug fixing would be a distinct
advantage
* Experience with programming in some of C++, shell script, Perl, Python,
GTK, and/or Java would also be useful
* Experience working with fonts, rendering and input methods would be most
welcome
* Candidates are expected to have experience of contributing to Open Source
projects and working with the Open Source community
